Valentine Love Note Contest Winner

Eddie has always been a love ambassador in Houston, TX.

He recently added another way to share his love - posting 'i love you, too' signs.

When I emailed him to tell him he was the Valentine Love Note Contest Winner he replied:

"I am trying to think of more places I can post the sheets and kinda monitor them to make sure they are updated. The baristas at Starbucks showed me that they pulled a tab and taped it to their cash register so that every time they ring up a sale they know that they are loved and that they try to practice love with their customers."

Which makes me think....maybe everything is bigger and better in Texas!

At 3:32 p.m. today I wanted to hold onto my anger...

...at 3:41 p.m. I bumped into *i love you* tacked to a telephone pole on the corner of Mariposa and Alabama. I was two blocks from my house.

I was still angry. Even with the sun shining down on me. Still angry from the walk back to the Mission all the way from Ocean beach.

When I saw your sign I was reminded as to why I've lived in San Francisco for 15 years. 

And why punk ass drunk kids pissing on my doorstop will never make me leave.

And that it's love that will make me extend an olive branch to my husband even when I don't want to.

Not because it's Valentine's Day (though that stupid societal pressure of a Hallmark holiday does have it's power)

But because your love is so great it makes me stay here.

And say I'm sorry.

Because that's what we need to do.

Keep spreading the love.

Ally, I love you and your Curl up and Dye Salon.  I sit down in your chair with my overgrown momlocks then you snip, snip while we chat, chat and voila! Suddenly, it looks like something exciting will happen this weekend. :)

I love your kitsch decor, advice on vinyl record purchases, that you tell me you can't see my gray hairs (I had to pull out two more when I got home) and promise me that you'll keep me from looking 40 over the next few months, at a minimum.

Most of all, I love your Ireland story.  Makes me smile now just thinking about it.  I love that you are so surprised with yourself and happy.  You deserve it!

Workshop Love

I don't want to sound too forward, since we just met tonight for the first time, but I think this is going to be a LTR kind of thing.....at least it feels like that for me.

Never mind that I just learned how to make my own stencils for street-style art (I dream about this kind of thing at night, you must know) - I'm already thinking about when I'm going to see you next and what we are going to do.

Drew & Chad: thank you for all the tips from how to read the surf report to surfing with kiddos in tow. Thank you for the encouragement, being a destination, having all the right stuff and especially for the late summer surf and BBQ. Thank you NICK for teaching me how to surf, you changed my life. Thank you for teaching me, again, how to pop up, for giving me a push so I could do it, and for showing me how to watch the waves. Thank you to the whole 2 mile crew for the daily surf report, board waxing and cleaning tips and for being there every day. So much love for the 2 mile crew!
